Allow me to introduce myself and my partners in crime. To keep it simple for all of you, three people will write for this blog under the guise of Capsfan, Pensfan, and Oilfan. The names could change at which point I'll update this post. Assorted guest bloggers will also contribute.
We are very pro the old NHL. We will update the standings every Tuesday of each week (we don't have the computer genius to do it automatically) to show everyone how they would look if we removed the OTL point and the shootout completely. A win is a win. A loss is a loss. An OT loss is a loss. A Shootout win is a tie. A shootout loss is a tie. W-L-T. We'll then bitch accordingly with all the Carolina Hurricanes fans of last year as they were the team who had the most regulation wins in the league (thanks guys). I thought about changing the outcomes of each game accordingly for each "puck out of play" penalty (not a penalty 9/10), but that just got too retarded and tedious. I'll let Gary win with that one.
Otherwise, this will be a blog that discusses the Caps, Penguins, and Oilers. We will be slightly biased toward our teams--and sometimes will cover one another's teams to keep each other honest. There will be rants. There will be rambles. There will be posts about other teams. Posts ripping Trades. All kinds of things. We look to the likes of Puck Daddy, OFB (of the 2007-2008 season--come on guys, an intern? really?... kidding, keep up the good work), Japers' Rink (probably the blog that we'll strive to become most like--along with Pens' Blog (for the sarcasm)--thanks, JP, for introducing me to Corsi) and will use them as barometers.

Feel free to change CAR to HFD, PHO to WIN, COL to QUE, and DAL to MIN.
Also maybe 07-08 Campbell / Wales?
It would be a nice old-NHL touch.
Or better yet, just run your blog the way you want.

If you switch DAL to MIN, what do you do with the current MIN? You could put MNW and MNS, I guess.
Then again, maybe you want to switch DAL to CLE or something. That'll REALLY confuse folks.
I like changing the conference names back, though.
As a joke I was thinking of completely ignoring all of the expansion teams.

I love it! Brilliant idea. Go old-NHL. And the standings thing is a marvelous touch which I will keep an eye on. The shootout is ridiculous.

Other fun suggestions (more for sport than to tell you what to do): If you do divisions, I'd love to see Washington back in a six-team Patrick (making the Southeast the "Hypothetical Division?). I guess Toronto can stay out of the Norris though, since they make such a lovely Wales/Adams team these days.
